Disasters" :
Isaiah 61:1-6 (KJV)
1 The Spirit
of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to
preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted, to proclaim LIBERTY to the captives, and the
opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the
acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to
comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to
give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be
called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he
might be glorified. 4 And they shall build the old wastes, they
shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the
waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers
shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be
your plowmen and your vinedressers. 6 But ye shall be named the
Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye
shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye
boast yourselves.
Romans 8:17-39 (KJV)
17 And if
children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified
together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time
are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed
in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made
subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath
subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall
be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious LIBERTY
of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation
groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only
they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption,
to wit, the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but
hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet
hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with
patience wait for it. 26 The Spirit also helpeth our
infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but
the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which
cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what
is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the
saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things
work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he
did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image
of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he
called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall
we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all,
how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who
shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that
justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God,
who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from
the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution,
or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For
thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep
for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers,
nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor
any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of
God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Cor 3:13-18 (KJV)
13 And not as
Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel
could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same
vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is
done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read,
the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to
the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that
Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of
the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even
as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Gal 5:1-26 (KJV)
1 Stand fast
therefore in the LIBERTY wherewith Christ hath made us free,
and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul
say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you
nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that
he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect
unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen
from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of
righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision
availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by
love. 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey
the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A
little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you
through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that
troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 11 And I,
brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer
persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. 12 I would they
were even cut off which trouble you.
13 For,
brethren, ye have been called unto LIBERTY; only use not LIBERTY
for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For
all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another,
take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then,
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the
flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot
do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye
are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest,
which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife,
seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings,
and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told
you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit
the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness,
temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are
Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us
not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
James
1:19-27 (KJV)
19 Wherefore,
my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak,
slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness
of God. 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of
naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is
able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of
the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural
face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and
straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso
looketh into the perfect law of LIBERTY, and continueth
therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work,
this man shall be blessed in his deed. 26 If any man among you seem
to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own
heart, this man's religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled
before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows
in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
1 Peter 2:1-25 (KJV)
1 Wherefore
laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies,
and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk
of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that
the Lord is gracious. 4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone,
disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5 Ye also,
as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in
Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on
him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is
precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the
builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 And a
stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble
at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who
hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which
in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which
had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly
beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from
fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 12 Having your
conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak
against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they
shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 to
every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the
king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by
him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that
do well. 15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may
put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 16 As free, and not
using your LIBERTY for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the
servants of God. 17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God.
Honour the king. 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all
fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. 19
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure
grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be
buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye
do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable
with God. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also
suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his
steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he
threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth
righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the
tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by
whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray;
but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Isaiah
58:1-14 (KJV)
1 Cry aloud,
spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their
transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek me
daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did
righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask
of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
3 Wherefore
have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we
afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day
of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. 4 Behold,
ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of
wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice
to be heard on high. 5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day
for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a
bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call
this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? 6 Is not this the
fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo
the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye
break every yoke? 7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and
that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou
seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself
from thine own flesh?
8 Then shall
thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring
forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory
of the LORD shall be thy rereward. 9 Then shalt thou call, and the
LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If
thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of
the finger, and speaking vanity; 10 And if thou draw out thy soul to
the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise
in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11 And the LORD
shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and
make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like
a spring of water, whose waters fail not. 12 And they that shall be
of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the
foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The
repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
13 If thou
turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my
holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD,
honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor
finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then
shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride
upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of
Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Matt
25:31-46 (KJV)
31 When the
Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him,
then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him
shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from
another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he
shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed
of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the
foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me
meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye
took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited
me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous
answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee?
or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a
stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or
when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the
King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch
as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye
have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left
hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for
the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no
meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger,
and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in
prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him,
saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger,
or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as
ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the
righteous into life eternal.
